Privacy Policy

Expirea is operated by Martin Mroc (“we”, “us”, or “our”). This Privacy Policy explains what information the Expirea iOS app processes and how it is handled.

You do not need to create an account to use Expirea. We do not operate a user login system, and we do not maintain a cloud profile of your pantry.

Product information you save — including names, expiry dates, optional photos, barcodes, brands, storage location, and opened/closed shelf-life details — is stored locally on your iPhone or iPad using on-device storage (SwiftData).

We also store your notification and reminder preferences, onboarding status, and a local counter of lifetime product adds used for free-tier limits.

Product recognition hints learned from your confirmed scans may be stored on the same device to improve future naming. This learning stays on your device.

Camera frames are processed on your device to read product names, barcodes, and expiry dates using Apple Vision and related on-device recognition.

If your device supports it, optional Apple Intelligence / Foundation Models features may help refine product naming on device.

If you use voice search, spoken audio is converted to text through Apple’s speech services so you can search your product list.

Barcode numbers may be sent to Open Food Facts to look up publicly available product information (such as name, brand, or image). We do not upload your product photos or OCR text to Open Food Facts for this lookup.

If you purchase or restore Expirea Pro, subscription status is handled by Apple and RevenueCat using an anonymous app identifier. RevenueCat does not receive your pantry contents or product photos.

Recipe content and recipe images are bundled with the app for offline use; browsing recipes does not download your personal product data to a third party.

We do not sell your personal data.

We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not include third-party advertising or analytics tracking SDKs in the app.

We do not require an account to use Expirea.

We do not upload your product photos for cloud storage or backup on our servers.

With your permission, Expirea schedules local notifications on your device for upcoming expiry dates and, for Pro subscribers who enable them, daily recipe reminders. These notifications are delivered by Apple’s local notification system and can be turned off in Settings or iOS system settings.

Expirea Pro is an optional auto-renewable subscription purchased through Apple. Payment processing and subscription management are handled by Apple. You can manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple ID subscription settings.

You can delete individual products from your list at any time.

You can turn expiry and recipe notifications on or off in the app Settings.

You can manage or cancel Expirea Pro in your Apple ID settings.

Removing the app from your device deletes locally stored product data associated with the app.

Expirea is not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided information through the app in a way that concerns you, contact us at martin@mroc.sk.

Because product and preference data primarily remain on your device, transfers of your pantry contents to our servers do not occur as part of normal use. Limited data related to barcode lookups or subscription status may be processed by the third parties listed above according to their own policies and locations.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page will change when we do. Continued use of Expirea after an update means you acknowledge the revised policy.
