Terms of Use

Last updated July 2026

These Terms cover your use of Expirea and Expirea Pro auto-renewable subscriptions sold through Apple In-App Purchase.

Agreement to these Terms

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your use of the Expirea iOS app and related website operated by Martin Mroc (“we”, “us”, or “our”). By downloading, accessing, or using Expirea, you agree to these Terms.

If you do not agree, do not use the app. For how we handle information, see our Privacy Policy.

The Expirea service

Expirea helps you scan grocery products, track expiry dates, receive local reminders, and (with Expirea Pro) access pantry-based recipe ideas. The app is provided for personal, non-commercial use on Apple devices you own or control.

Expirea is a convenience tool. It does not guarantee food safety, product authenticity, or that any expiry date is correct. Always follow packaging labels, storage instructions, and your own judgment before consuming food.

Accounts and eligibility

You do not need to create an Expirea account to use the free or paid features. Purchases are tied to your Apple ID through Apple’s In-App Purchase system.

You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age required in your country) to use the app. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use the app only with a parent or guardian’s consent.

Free features and limits

The free version of Expirea lets you add a limited number of products (currently 20 lifetime product adds). We may change free limits over time. Features marked as Pro require an active Expirea Pro subscription.

Expirea Pro subscriptions

Expirea Pro is an optional auto-renewable subscription offered through Apple In-App Purchase. Pro features may include unlimited product scans/adds, pantry-based recipes, and smarter product naming, as described in the app at the time of purchase.

Subscription options may include monthly and yearly plans. Exact prices, durations, and available offers (including any free trial) are shown in the app paywall and on the App Store product page before you confirm a purchase. Prices are charged in your local currency as displayed by Apple.

Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase, or at the end of any free trial if you do not cancel beforehand.

Subscriptions renew automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period at the then-current rate for the selected plan.

You can manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple ID Account Settings after purchase (Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions on your device, or via your Apple ID subscriptions page on the web). Deleting the app does not cancel your subscription.

Any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited when you purchase a subscription where applicable under Apple’s rules. We do not control Apple’s billing, refunds, or family sharing behavior; refund requests are handled by Apple under Apple’s terms.

License to use the app

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use Expirea for personal use in accordance with these Terms and the App Store Terms of Service.

You may not copy, modify, distribute, reverse engineer, or create derivative works from the app except as allowed by law. You may not use the app for unlawful purposes or in a way that interferes with other users or our systems.

Your content

Product names, photos, notes, and other items you add remain on your device under your control. You are responsible for the content you store in the app and for ensuring you have the rights to any images or text you capture.

We do not claim ownership of your pantry data. Because that data is stored locally, uninstalling the app typically deletes it from the device.

Third-party services

Expirea may use third-party services such as Apple frameworks, Open Food Facts for public barcode lookups, and RevenueCat to help manage subscription status. Your use of those services may also be subject to their terms and privacy policies.

Product metadata returned from Open Food Facts is provided by a public database and may be incomplete or inaccurate.

Intellectual property

The Expirea name, app design, bundled recipes, illustrations, and other original materials are owned by Martin Mroc or our licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws. These Terms do not transfer any ownership rights to you.

Disclaimer of warranties

Expirea is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

We do not warrant that scanning, OCR, barcode lookup, notifications, or recipes will be uninterrupted, error-free, or suitable for any specific dietary, medical, or safety need.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Martin Mroc will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profits, or food spoilage arising from your use of Expirea.

Our total liability for any claim arising out of these Terms or the app will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us for Expirea Pro in the 12 months before the claim or (b) zero if you only used the free version. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in those places, our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.

App Store / Apple terms

These Terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for Expirea. To the extent the app fails to conform to an applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple may refund the purchase price of the app (if any); to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation.

Apple and Apple’s subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you. You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as a “terrorist supporting” country, and that you are not listed on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.

Your use of the app must also comply with the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions / App Store Terms of Service.

Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. The “Last updated” date on this page will change when we do. Continued use of Expirea after an update means you accept the revised Terms. If you do not agree, stop using the app and cancel any subscription through Apple.
